Please Welcome, Tommy Emmanuel

Ce nouveau DVD en concert, et en Dolby Digital 5.1, sera encore un régal pour les amateurs de guitare acoustique. Dans "Center Stage", enregistré durant trois shows en Californie en octobre 2007, Tommy Emmanuel livre encore une prestation éblouissante. L'ensemble se révèlera plus instrumental que le DVD précédent, dans lequel on voyait l'artiste chanter en compagnie de sa compagne, chanteuse au timbre jazzy. Le premier titre, "The Finger Lakes", montre la dextérité de Tommy dans les harmoniques, il fait sonner sa guitare pratiquement comme un carillon. Ensuite, au travers de morceaux comme "Papa George" ou un medley consacré aux Beatles, il démontrera encore que son jeu, s'il est parfois très technique, est surtout axé sur de simples mélodies et de l'émotion. En plus de "Papa George", il y a trois autres chansons qui n'avaient jamais été enregistrées auparavant, il s'agit de "Ruby's Eyes", "The Jolly Swagman", et "Lenny Bro". Le virtuose joue aussi des percussions, mais sur sa guitare uniquement. "Mombasa" est là pour enlever tout soupçon de doute. C'est impressionnant, on entendrait un djembé, voir plusieurs, si on fermait les yeux. D'autres classiques de son répertoire sont présents ici comme "Tall Fiddler", "Georgia On My Mind" ou "Nine Pound Hammer".
